Well, I want to start by stating I am a 30 year old married mom of a gorgeous little boy. I have been heavy since I can remember, although family pictures seem to indicate it was around 2nd grade or so that I was "bigger" than everyone else. I had binged and dieted my way up to 365 lbs.
In June of 2008 I have gastric bypass surgery. So far, in the past 7 ish months, I have lost 110lbs. I am INCREDIBLY happy with this, but for the last month, all weight loss has stopped. This is entirely my fault. I started getting lazy and stopped exercising for a while, and at that point I was still losing, so why would I bother?? Then, there is the Devil. By Devil I mean Starbucks dark chocolate Grahams. It started out as 1/2 of 1 cookie. Then it was 1 full cookie, then a full pack of 2 cookies. This, of course, all happens over the course of a few hours because if I ate more then one at a time, I would feel very ill. So, I eat one, I wait an hour and eat another. And most recently (yesterday) I bought 2 packs and ate them both. I also hid them from my husband. This is very typical behavior of a binge eater, and I am so glad I can see the signs of the "slide" back to my binge-diet mentality.
So, here I am proclaiming to the world (or, to my blog) that I am for going the stupid chocolate and getting back to basics. These are the basics of the WLS (weight Loss Surgery) way of life. (Note: I did not say "diet")
1. Write down what I eat. Every crumb.
2. No drinking with meals or snacks. Drink 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after.
3. CHEW CHEW CHEW or things get stuck and I am miserable
4. Protein FIRST, then veggies, fruits and carbs
5. Exercise
6. Drink at least 64 OZ of water
Ok, I think that's it. The good thing is that I have still stuck to most of these rules.
I am going to be posting alot about food and emotions and my progress. Don't say I didn't warn you.
