I haven't posted in a few days, but wanted to update my weight and situation with my fingers. Well, I still don't have feeling in my left thumb and first finger, but I'm not concerned with it right now.
I weighed in on Sunday (TRYING to only weigh in once a week) at 235. I'm really happy about this. Back down to the weight I was at my very first doctors appointment with Sammy. My next goal is 219, which is the lowest I have been - then after that, anything with a 1 in front of it. I'm so close - I know I can do it. Gym 5 days a week and eating correctly. It's working. My body is changing and it continues to change my life.
On a personal note - my mima is in the hospital. The doctors think she has brain cancer. It's all extremely sudden and shocking. We will know more today. I don't understand why my family needs to endure all of this - it was just 6 months ago yesterday that my cousin Brian committed suicide. It's so much pain right now, no one knows where to go. I feel a little shut down about everything, and I think that's they way it needs to be for now. Life needs to happen - my kids need me to be their mama, not fall apart right now. I'm holding on with all I've got.

I'm a Tuff Girl
So, this morning I went to this fab class called Tuff Girl Bootcamp - http://www.tuffgirlfitnessct.com/
I went to the beginners session, although every class is geared toward every level. The instructor gives variations for every move from beginner to extremely advanced. It was a good, sweaty ass-kicking. All standard exercises, from squats, plies, to pushups, crunches, planks and everything varied in between. It was really fun, and hard work, which is awesome. The only problem is, since about midway through the workout, my thumb and first finger on my left hand have gone numb. You know, that feeling you get when some extremity falls asleep? Yeah, except mine won't "wake up". I'm going to give it a few days, but if it's not better by Monday, I'll call my Dr. I'm not messing around here. I have a LOT of work to do, and I don't have time to be bothered by any such garbage. Humph.
Anyway, it really was awesome and I would love to do it again... I just wish it wasn't so pricey... :-(

I like to move it, move it....
Went to my second Group Groove class this morning. It was a little stressful, because I had both kids and they had to go to the childcare. The childcare was great - the staff was lovely. Josh had a great time and Sam fell asleep in his seat! Score!
The class felt better, because I had a better idea of what was coming. I felt like I got a better workout because I was able to follow so much better and not worry about tripping on my own two feet.
Tomorrow is exciting. I am trying out a class called Tuff Girl Bootcamp http://www.tuffgirlfitnessct.com/
It looks HARDCORE and I am super excited to see if I can do it! I am attending the beginner one, and I get to go with a friend (yea Penny!). I will update tomorrow and tell you all about my ass-kicking!

weigh in
This morning I weighed myself and I am 236... the scale is finally moving in the right direction. It's fabulous, especially considering I had gotten BACK up to 285 at the end of my pregnancy with "Thing 2". SO much of that was baby "stuff", but losing almost 50 lbs in 10.5 weeks is freaking amazing. I can't wait to get to my goal of getting back to my lowest weight (219) and then the NEXT goal of getting under 200. I can't remember when I even weighed less than 200 lbs. Ever. Maybe grammar school. LOL. I really don't know.
Just keep on keepin' on...
Just keep on keepin' on...

New class
I now belong to In Shape Fitness. I really enjoy this gym, and I was finally able to take one of the classes I have been DYING to do, called Group Groove. It's dance based, similar to Zumba, except they use an interval approach, which I like, and they talk you through steps, which I also like. I stood in the back (per usual) and I felt like a lumbering fool. I have a hard time "mirroring". I always want to do the move opposite of the instructor - therefor, the entire class is going right, I end up left. Ugh. However, despite my obvious directional difficulties, I kept moving, sweat-ed my butt off and ended up having fun. And frankly, if it was fun just trying desperately to keep up, it's going to be even more fun once I get the hang of things.
One thing I couldn't help thinking was: wow, I have a LONG way to go. Sure, I can feel like an eye-of-the-tiger champ on the treadmill, but damn, the instructors of this class were FIERCE. Energetic can't even begin to describe the level at which they need to work, not only doing the moves hardcore, but also calling out all the moves and cheering everyone on.... and I want to do THIS eventually? Yikes. It was the first time I felt like this goal was out of reach. I felt "big" in class, and I haven't been feeling that way in a while now. However, I am proud I stepped out of the comfort zone and went. I will certainly be back. Hopefully for every class.

obsession
woops....
It took me a while to get out of the weighing-myself-everyday (sometimes twice - yikes!) obsession. Mostly, I think it was when I got pregnant. Weighing myself everyday was a mute point at that time. However, I have slipped back into it and, before I send myself on a downward spiral of depression, I need to stop it. Previously, my hubby helped me with this by taking the scale and putting it in the attic. Hmpf.
The scale (AKA: The bitch) has told me in the last 2 days, I have gained 2 lbs. The last two days have been stellar eating wise, excellent with exercise and better and better with water. Fuck you, scale. You LIE.
Now, when I say that the bitch is lying, I mean that, although perhaps my body, for some unknown reason, is holding onto these few pounds, I have been feeling really good. Good as in, fit, attractive, strong. So, why do I care what the scale says? Well, because I am still quite a way from my goal - which is not an unrealistic goal: 180. Currently, as the bitch states, I am 239. 2 days ago, I was 237. It took me weeks and weeks to get out of the 240's, and now I am perilously close to it again. What the hell?
I have a few potentially logical answers: I did great with water yesterday, and not so much before that. I could be holding on to some of that. Also, I say my eating has been stellar, but I have been below my calorie goals almost constantly. Part of my brain still thinks "YES!!" while, the other part is saying: "MORON!, you have to EAT to lose, especially when you are exercising 5 days a week now!"
Therefore, I will try and believe that these reasons are why, and that they will pass. The old me would have said "screw this, if I'm going to gain, I might as well gain eating chocolate and ice cream" But that's not me anymore. I won't lie and say that that particular thought flew into my head - but I dismissed it quickly. I need to focus on how I am FEELING, and how my clothes are fitting (which is changing rapidly) I feel GOOD when I eat correctly, and when I am working out, pushing and challenging myself. So, that's where I am going to stay.
Later Bitch. I may just have to stick you back up in the attic.

Feeling good!
Amazing, right? Just a little update. Feeling so much better emotionally. Today was a fantastically balanced eating day PLUS the hubs and I joined the gym down the street and I did a 45 minute, 400 calorie busting cardio workout. I hurt now, but really, I have to suck it up. Tylenol is lovely.
I am really looking forward to taking advantage of the classes, the great cardio equipment, and the state of the art resistance equipment. Meeting with a trainer on Monday, and I am excited to get going on a routine. I am not great with the resistance training, as in, knowing what to do, how many reps, etc. So, it will be great to figure that out.
I hope things continue to go in this great direction! Fingers crossed!
