Well, it's been a bit since I have posted, and I suppose the lack of time is only one reason. I AM on track, and I have had to really change around my thinking in order to do this. I have put myself on a schedule of eating and drinking, and since I have done this ( I guess it's been about a week?) I have lost all of what I gained, and 4 more, making me 129 lbs lost. The schedule helps me becuase I have trouble being able to tell when I am getting hungry, until I am so hungry I am in serious pain. I also was not getting nearly as much water in as I needed. So, I now I am eating every 1.5-2 hours, sometimes less. I am eating as soon as I feel the slightest sensation of hunger, even if I just ate an hour ago. As soon as an hour has past after eating, I drink 25-30 oz of water/crystal light. I am pee-ing like a race horse. It's a good thing. I am also eating first thing in the morning, even if it's just a few PB cookies in the car on the way to work, it seems to be helping alot. I have also added some high fiber carbs, like weight control oatmeal in the AM. This has been helping with the hunger a lot as well.
All of this is different because when I was a very new post-op, my Dr. told me to only eat when I was hungry, NOT to eat on a schedule. At first, this worked fine, but then I WAS hungry. A LOT. And I started to get nervous I was eating too much. SO, I would try to delay eating, even if I was in pain, becasue I had "just eaten" and was thinking maybe I should try to "space things out" more. This is OBVIOUSLY not working for me anymore.
I am physically feeling much better, and I have resumed my sessions with my Dr. (yes, my "head" Dr.) and I am feeling good about that.
I may have the opportunity to teach additional music classes next semester at the university, which I jumped on. It makes me nervous to be in front of a class of 20 kids, but I think it's a good step for me. I have all summer to work on a syllabus, and I am feeling like I can do it. Of course, last year I never would have done this, because I never would have stood in front of a classroom full of college students at 365 lbs. No. Way.
So, that's where I am at right now. More later.
